“Saatnya contoh baik kita kembangkan bersama, kolaborasi.

Kalau kesulitan mengurus perizinan libatkan kami sejak awal,” tegas Andre.

Kecepatan beradaptasi, berkolaborasi, dan berimprovisasi menjadi kunci bertahan pelaku industri MICE di masa pandemi, sekaligus menjadi modal menyongsong masa depan industri MICE pasca pandemi.

Survival Necessities: Adaptation, Collaboration, Improvisation

We can’t lose our spirit even though the MICE industry is going through a rough patch right now. Keep adapting, collaborating, and improvising to survive in the pandemic.

To MICE industry players, two years of doing the business in the pandemic must have given numerous stories and experiences. Some are fun, some are difficult. However, we have all agreed that the pandemic has brought us many lessons.

Adaptation, collaboration, and improvisation become three keywords that make MICE industry players survive in the pandemic.

Since the beginning, the pandemic has urged us to adapt quickly, either by integrating technology wherein all MICE events were online at some point or implementing the hybrid concept. We have also learned to adapt to the New Normal and the health protocols as well as the new marketing techniques to offer MICE events to sponsors and audience.

The second necessity is collaboration. General Chairman of Dyandra Promosindo, Hendra Noor Saleh, in MICE Indonesia’s podcast on YouTube mentioned that MICE industry players should utilize this pandemic to collaborate in place of competing against each other.

“This is the time to take our part in what has worked before: collaboration. We can no longer look for ways to win alone, we must sacrifice to save the industry. We hope that it will become normal next year, but let’s not stop collaborating,” said the man who is often called Kohen.

According to him, this pandemic has taught MICE industry players that as humans and businesses, we cannot live alone.

The third necessity is improvisation. It’s already an open secret that during the pandemic, everything is in a state of uncertainty, especially when it comes to procuring a permit to hold an exhibition. And this permit process may change according to the development of the situation.

“The permit procurement process is long and not standardized yet, there are still many improvisations,” said General Chairman of IECA, Hosea Andreas Runkat.

However, Andre stressed that his team, as an association, is ready to assist MICE industry players who have issues in regards to their events’ permit. “We have partnered with the police, task forces, National Agency for Disaster Countermeasure, and regional secretaries. If you have difficulties about the permission, involve us early on,” said Andre.

Adaptability and capability to collaborate and improvise become the survival keys for MICE industry players during the pandemic. They may also aid the MICE industry for the post-pandemic era later on.
