Industri apapun jelas membutuhkan dukungan sumber daya manusia yang mumpuni, apalagi industri MICE. Tenaga kerja MICE setidaknya harus memiliki tiga kompetensi wajib.
Bicara kualitas, sebenarnya sumber daya manusia (SDM) MICE Indonesia jauh lebih baik ketimbang Thailand atau Singapura. Menurut Direktur Lembaga Sertifikasi Profesi (LSP) MICE, Adjat Sudrajat dalam perbincangan Podcast di kanal YouTube MICE Indonesia, kelebihan SDM Indonesia ada di hospitality.
“Yang membuat standar kompetensi SDM MICE tingkat ASEAN itu pemimpinnya Indonesia, jadi soal kualitas SDM jauh lebih baik dibanding Thailand atau Singapura,” ujar Adjat.
Terkait kompetensi, setidaknya ada tiga hal yang wajib dimiliki oleh pelaku industri MICE.
Pertama, knowledge alias pengetahuan. Ini bisa didapat dari bangku kuliah, seminar, atau pengalaman kerja.
Kedua, skill atau keterampilan. Keahlian ini bisa didapat dengan rajin terlibat sebagai penyelenggara di berbagai kegiatan MICE. Bukti kompetensi skill ini salah satunya terlihat dari sertifikat usai SDM MICE mengikuti uji kompetensi profesi.
Ketiga, attitude atau sikap. Penilaiannya bisa didapat dari komentar tamu atau user terkait performa SDM bersangkutan.
Potensi industri MICE Indonesia yang menjanjikan, didukung SDM yang banyak dan terampil tentu akan menjadi ancaman bagi negara tetangga. Hanya saja, SDM MICE Tanah Air masih kurang kesadarannya untuk mendapat sertifikasi profesi MICE.
“Bayangkan penduduk kita banyak, SDM juga banyak, kalau semua sudah kompeten (tersertifikasi), negara lain pasti gemetar takut diserbu,” tutup Adjat.

Three Mandatory Competencies of MICE Talents
Any industry must require good support from competent human resources, and MICE is no exception. MICE talents must at least have these three competencies.
Speaking of quality, MICE human resources in Indonesia are far better than those in Thailand or Singapore. According to Director of MICE Professional Certification Institute, Adjat Sudrajat, in our podcast on MICE Indonesia’s YouTube channel, the superiority of Indonesian resources lies in hospitality.
“The standard competence making of MICE human resources in ASEAN is led by Indonesia, so [Indonesian] human resource quality is far better than that of Thailand or Singapore,” said Adjat.
In regards to competence, there are at least three qualities MICE industry players must acquire.
First, knowledge. This can be obtained through university education, seminars, or work experience.
Second, skill. It can be acquired through consistent involvement as an organizer in various MICE events. The proof of this competence can be shown in the certificate of MICE human resource’s professional competence test.
Third, attitude. It can be assessed from comments by guests or users about the performance of the human resource.
MICE Indonesia has a promising potential. Equipped with skilled and abundant human resources, of course we are posing a threat to the neighboring countries. However, Indonesian MICE talents still lack the initiative to undertake professional certification.
“Just imagine. We’re very populated, we’ve got a lot of human resources. If everyone is competent (certified), other countries must be trembling in fear,” concluded Adjat.
