Lapangan kerja MICE terbuka luas.

So Much Potential, Yet So Few Certified Human Resources
There are numerous job opportunities in MICE. However, there is a lack of certified competent human resources in the industry, yet this competence certificate is important, especially at international bidding.
The potential of MICE events in Indonesia is very promising. For instance, out of 34 ministries that hold 200 yearly events, there are about 6,800 MICE events conducted. In addition, there are various directorates within one ministry. On top of that, don’t forget about the regional, provincial, or city government institutions that also like to hold MICE events.
However, this potential isn’t proportional to the number of MICE human resources that have acquired certification. According to the records of the MICE Professional Certification Institute, there are only 1,991 MICE human resources that have been certified since 2017. This number is less than 20% the total number of MICE workers in Indonesia.
However, according to the Director of the MICE Professional Certification Institute, Adjat Sudrajat, one of the requirements of organizing an event (including participating in an international bidding) is certified human resources.
“Without that [certification], although the organizer is good or affordable, [they] will not pass. It includes participation in international bidding, human resource competence certificate becomes an important consideration,” said Adjat on MICE Indonesia’s YouTube channel.
Furthermore, according to Adjat, there are less than 20 certified MICE industry players whose competence is already on the level of international bidding in his records. He believes that a bidding skill requires a particular competence.
The institute provides a seven-scheme competence certification process. Each scheme comprises six competencies that must be found in every MICE industry player. In every scheme, there are several technical and administrational requirements that must be fulfilled by MICE industry players who want to obtain the certificate, prior to a test.
“Most of those who come to the institute don’t do it out of their initiative but rather because their company sends them [here]. But professional certification should be done out of one’s own willingness,” added Adjat.
A big business potential in the MICE industry is of course proportional to the needs for competent and skilled human resources. A competence certificate is necessary to testify a MICE human resource’s competence as well as showcasing the skills of Indonesian MICE resources on the international scale.
