Yuk, Gotong Royong Garap Event

Namun harapan mulai nampak. Kasus COVID-19 mulai melandai, pemerintah pun sedikit melonggarkan aturan mobilitas dan aktivitas masyarakat, panduan protokol kesehatan pun sudah disiapkan sejak lama, tinggal pelaku industrinya yang bersiap memulihkan industri MICE.

Hanya saja, memulainya bisa jadi terasa berat, apalagi terkait pendanaan. Maka solusinya, gotong royong menggarap event.

Let’s Work Hand in Hand, Organizers!

Collaboration between event organizers can trigger the revival of the MICE industry. The government has declared its readiness in supporting  its revival.

Living through the pandemic for almost two years has not been easy for MICE industry players. Event demands remain stagnant, while operation is still running. Unfortunately, a certain amount of budget is still necessary for survival.

However, a gleam of hope has surfaced. The number of COVID-19 cases has decreased, and the government has decided to lower the level of community mobility and activity restriction. Health protocol guidelines have also been prepared since a while ago. So it leaves the MICE industry players to partake in the preparation to revive the industry.

The thing is, starting out is difficult, especially in regards to funding. As a solution, organizers can collaborate in projects.

Vice Director of the Indonesian Exhibition Companies Association (IECA), Andi Mohan, said, “Industry players can fund events or exhibitions together. The pandemic sure has depleted our financial resources, that’s why we need collaboration.”

Andi believes that exhibitions and meetings have started to take place in certain regions, like Surabaya and East Kalimantan. Meanwhile in Jakarta, people are still waiting for the permission to hold events again. Although the industry players, according to Andi, are more than ready to organize them.

Moreover, reviving the MICE industry is actually easier than stimulating other tourism industries because MICE events usually have a definite number of participants, which allows for more control.

On the other hand, the government has declared their readiness to support the revival of the MICE industry. They have done so by preparing and broadcasting information on CHSE (Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environmental Sustainability) guidelines.

“The ministry keeps on spreading the information on CHSE to all MICE industry players. It’s like when you eat out at a good restaurant. If you know that the place is a certified gluten-free food service, for example, you will not worry about your gluten allergies. Same thing applies for CHSE certification and MICE industry players,” added Andi.

The government has also pushed ministries and other institutions to hold business trips and meetings at MICE venues again in order to stimulate the industry.

Now, all components in the MICE industry need to collaborate in event organization. “This will prove that event crews can collaborate,” Andi concluded.
