Berdasarkan data International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) pada 2019 ada lebih dari 13.000 event MICE yang digelar di seluruh dunia. Bayangkan kalau Indonesia merangkul sekian persennya saja sudah tentu industri MICE Tanah Air bakal menggiurkan potensinya.
Hanya saja untuk membawa perhelatan internasional ke Tanah Air butuh proses bidding yang tidaklah mudah. Keberhasilan memenangkan bidding juga tidak bisa dicapai secara instan, perlu kesabaran dan perjalanan panjang.
Misalnya begini, ketika Anda mengincar sebuah event internasional yang agendanya digelar tahun 2022, setidaknya ada harus mulai menjalin relasi dan sebagainya sejak 2-3 tahun sebelumnya.

Pertama, Anda harus rajin membangun networking, salah satunya dengan rajin-rajin mengikuti berbagai kegiatan bidding. Ada baiknya juga, Anda membina hubungan baik dengan asosiasi-asosiasi internasional.
Kedua, buat materi presentasi bidding yang informatif dan semenarik mungkin. “Kuncinya ada pada kemampuan kita mempresentasikan diri saat bidding. Buatlah materi presentasi yang wow,” jelasnya.
Ketiga, usahakan untuk mengajak pejabat pemerintah di level tinggi. Kehadiran pejabat ini menjadi penanda keseriusan Anda mengikuti sebuah bidding internasional. Selain itu, dukungan pejabat ini bisa menaikkan nilai tawar Anda.
Raty menambahkan, untuk memenangkan event internasional, kita harus rajin hadir di setiap event dan menjaga relasi dengan asosiasi internasional. Ia juga berpendapat, bahwa membawa kegiatan MICE dunia ke Indonesia harus dilakukan keroyokan oleh seluruh pelaku industri MICE. “Harus keroyokan dan mengesampingkan ego sektoral serta tidak sporadis,” pungkas Ratna.

For instance, if you are targeting an international event that is planned in 2022, then you need to at least build relations and start planning 2-3 years prior.
That’s why joining an international bidding is like running a marathon. It takes patience to go through the long run before coming out as a champion. Director of Pacto Convex, Ratna Ning, shared some tips to win international bidding in MICE Indonesia’s podcast on our YouTube channel.
First, you need to continuously build your network. One way to do that is by consistently attending bidding events. You should also have a good relationship with international associations.
Second, make your bidding presentation as informative and attractive as possible. “The key is in our capability to present ourselves at the bidding. Make a presentation that can wow the audience,” she explained.
Third, make sure to involve the high-authority government officials. The presence of these figures indicates that you are serious in participating in international bidding. Aside from that, their support can also increase your bargaining value.
Raty added that in order to win an international event, you must consistently attend every event and maintain a good relationship with international associations. She also believes that bringing Indonesian MICE into the international limelight requires collective hardwork by all MICE industry players. “We must work hand in hand and set our sectoral ego aside. We can’t do it sporadically,” added Ratna.
